| Ivan
was born on January 27, 1975 in Vallejo California. Ivan is the second youngest
of seven boys. His parents immigrated from Jalisco, Mexico to California in 1963
and made Vallejo there home. Rubio graduated from Vallejo High School and a few
years later was excepted to the Academy of Art College in San Francisco where
he graduated as Artist and Illustrator. Ivan
has attended workshops and studied under well-renown Illustrators such as Burt
Silverman, Gary Kelly, Bernie Fuchs and Mark English. Also has studied under Artist
Craig Nelson, Barbara Bradley, Zaoming Wu, Kazuhiko Sano and Steven Player. Attending
Art College as a part-time student has been a long and challenging road and has
made Ivan grow as a person, thus growing creatively as an Artist.
In 1998, he married Stacey, a beautiful Chicana who has been supportive of his
endeavors and who has become his favorite model for much of his artwork. Ivan
is also blessed with two children, Yasmine and Enrique, which have been his motivation
in life.
Rubio's artwork mainly consists of oils, acrylic and some mix media. His subject
matter and media varied tremendously. Ivan is able to communicate the personality
and soul of his imagery in a real and surreal expression thus adding reality and
truth of his Chicano culture and beauty of his Mexican heritage. |
