Gustavo,
a native of California and longtime resident of Sacramento,
was born in Santa Monica, California on July 27, 1970.
The Artist spent part of his childhood living with his
family in a Davis migrant camp. The family later moved
to Sacramento where the Artist settled and now calls
"home". Reynoso graduated from Jesuit High
School and California State University, Sacramento and
holds a degree in Civil engineering.
Gustavo
has studied Art at American River College under well-known
Artist such as Gary Pruner and Dan Samborski. He later
studied under well known Portrait Artist Nita Petroske
who he chose to follow and continues to learn from to
this day. Reynoso's paintings center on autobiographical
subjects that draw on his traditional Mexican heritage.
His subject matter and style tremendously varied. His
works also are notable for their dramatic use of color
and exploration of universal emotional themes, such
as joy, love, passion, tranquility and isolation. Although
the subject matter of his paintings is intimate, it
illuminates and transcends universal themes. His vision
is simple and expressed with clarity, yet it encourages
the mind to explore the possibilities of deeper meaning.
